Ukraine will be able to accommodate fans at economical prices
Interview by the director of the Local Organizing Committee EURO 2012 Ukraine, Markiyan Lubkivskyi Ukraine Will be Able to Accommodate Fans at Economical Prices
In Ukraine there are enough rooms to accommodate fans at affordable prices. The director of the Local Organizing Committee EURO 2012 Ukraine, Markiyan Lubkivskyi, stated this during a press conference on 26 January. According to him, our country takes into account the fact that 80% of fans who will come for the matches will be looking for lower category budget accommodation.
“Since information of negative nature regarding the accommodation prices appears, our main task is to identify and classify facilities, to control compliance with safety and comfort standards, and – most importantly – to deliver information in accessible form to a foreign customer. Those who currently offer inflated prices at various unofficial sites should cool down and realize that the crisis has affected the purchasing power of fans”, the tournament director in Ukraine stressed.
He informed that today less than 20% of the rooms contracted by the agencies in Ukrainian accommodation facilities are booked. “Travel agencies listened and optimized their offers. You can find quite affordable accommodation options in each of the Ukrainian host cities with a reservation requirement of at least two nights”, Markiyan Lubkivskyi said. He stressed that the information disseminated by some media regarding fans wanting to live in four or five star hotels is untrue.
As, in his turn, the president of the Hotels and Restaurants Association, Dmytro Zaruba, stressed, for EURO the price for ordinary fans is 50-100% more than the normal price, so the Local Organising Committee “EURO 2012 Ukraine” urged fans to book rooms only at official sites of Hamalia and TUI Travel agencies. The main idea in promoting these resources is the establishment of close cooperation between the host cities and football federations of countries that will play in specific cities.
The President of the Hamalia travel company, Ihor Holubaha, has informed that Kyiv, where the travel agency contracted 7,924 rooms for 20,000 persons, offers a price for hostels at 18 to 85 euros per night, in hotels – 27.6-276 euros, sanatoriums – 69-115 euros.
At the same time, Donetsk (3,667 rooms for 9,717 persons) offers the following: hostels – 11.5-16 euros hotels – 60-115 euros, sanatoriums – 69-115 euros; Lviv (236 rooms for 569 persons): hotels – 23-46 euros, sanatoriums – 57,5-132 euros, and in Kharkiv you can book one of 256 hotel rooms for 92-253 euros.
Ihor Holubaha added that in Kyiv they will also use the camping Prolisok – 300 tents (15 euros per night) and Kyivska Rus camping park – an encampment for 530 persons (12 euros per night).
