Scientific and technical cooperation
The priorities of scientific and technical cooperation between Ukraine and Denmark are laid out in the bilateral legal framework, where Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Denmark on the development of economic, industrial, scientific and technical cooperation, signed on 23.10.1993, takes the central place.
With the entry into force of the said Agreement a more active cooperation between the two countries was unveiled in the spheres of creating joint ventures, increasing investments, transferring technologies and " know-how ", reconstruction and modernization, expansion and automation of existing businesses, including the conversion of the defense industry, as well as training for staff and managers, organization of fairs, exhibitions and seminars, exchange of delegations, experts and trainees, advice and more.
The mentioned bilateral document has also provided institutional framework to ensure the above cooperation through the creation of a bilateral Consultative Group on relevant issues, which held its meetings in 1995, 1997 and 2001. As the result of the reformation processes in the MFA of Denmark in 2002 the mentioned intergovernmental body has ceased its work.
Consultative Group meetings as well as high-level and expert-level bilateral dialogue testified the both side’s interest in cooperation in the field of IT, energy saving, energy efficient technologies, alternative energy sources.
During the period of 2013-2014 the scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries was defined mostly by exchange of visits between private companies and education facilities of Ukraine and Denmark, which involved students and teachers.
