The population of the Ukrainian community in Denmark is over 14,000. The majority of Ukrainians live in Jutland. The Ukrainian community has the official status of the association of foreign nationals. The Ukrainian organizations in Denmark Lastivka, Ukraine Club, Faino, Haelp Ukrainian Bjorn, Ukrainian Sports Union, Bevar Ukraine united in the Association of Ukrainians in Denmark and became the members of the Ukrainian World Congress in 2018. The Danish-Ukrainian Society (DUS) is a major scientific and educational organization founded in 1992.
The Embassy of Ukraine in Denmark, in cooperation with the collaboration of the Association of Ukrainians in Denmark and the Danish-Ukrainian Society, promotes and implements cultural and humanitarian projects to promote Ukrainian traditions, culture and history. Festivals of Ukrainian culture, summer camps for children of the Ukrainian community, Embroidery Parade have become traditional. The Ukrainian Diaspora Football Team from Denmark participated in the World Cup among Ukrainian Diaspora teams and won second place. There are 9 Ukrainian Sunday schools was opened to provide and disseminate Ukrainian language and tradition in Denmark. In 2019, the Plast Ukrainian Youth Scout Organization was founded in Randers (Denmark).
The Society, established in 1992, aims its efforts towards strengthening political, economic, cultural and people to people cooperation between Ukraine and Denmark. In its capacity the Danish-Ukrainian Society provides the actual information about the developments in Ukraine to the local public, stimulates closer relations between the people of two countries, increases awareness of the Danes about Ukraine’s history, cultural heritage and language.
