Trade indicators for 2019

The volume of trade between Ukraine and Denmark in 2019 amounted to 790.3 million US$*showing an increase of 50.8 million US$ (6.9%) compared to 2018.

Denmark was one of Ukraine’s 50 largest trading partners (33rd place) with trade between the two countries accounting for 0.6% of Ukraine’s total foreign trade. Denmark was Ukraine’s 40th largest partner in trade in goods (0.5%) and 21st in trade in services (1.2%).

At the same time, Denmark was one of Ukraine′s important foreign trade partners in trade in services. Following the results of 2019, it became the 21st importer of services to Ukraine and the 15th market for the export of services from Ukraine, which is larger then combined market of all other Scandinavian countries.

Exports of Ukrainian goods to Denmark in 2019 amounted to 254.7 million US$ (1.9% up), exports of services – to 186.3 million US$ (18.3% up). Total exports of goods and services to Denmark amounted to 441.0 million US$, showing an increase of 8.2% compared to 2018.

Imports of goods from Denmark during this period amounted to 274.2 million US$ (0.5% down), imports of services amounted to 75.2 million US$ (33.2% up). Total imports from Denmark amounted to 349.4 million US$, showing an increase of 5.2% compared to 2018.

The balance of bilateral trade between the two countries was positive for Ukraine. According to the results of 2019, it amounted to 91.6 million US$.


Investments

As of the end of 2019, the volume of direct investment (equity) from Denmark in the economy of Ukraine amounted to 157.5 million US$, which was 0.4% of total investment in Ukraine (0.6% of total investment of the EU in Ukraine).

The main investment capital is invested in industry (33.9%), agriculture, forestry and fishery (32.6%), wholesale and retail trade (17.9%) and real estate transactions (7%). In the field of industry, Danish investments are mainly distributed in the areas of processing and textile production.

 In addition, as of the end of 2019, Ukraine received 123.5 million US$ in Danish portfolio investment in the debt instruments.
