On the 199th day of the war, on 10 September 2022, Ambassador of Ukraine to Denmark Mykhailo Vydoinyk took part as a guest in the congress of the Conservative People’s Party of Denmark. In his speech, he noted that he is not a politician, but he fully understands why he was invited, since “what is happening right now in Ukraine matters to everyone.”
The Ukrainian Ambassador reminded the audience that Ukrainians have been fighting already six month against the aggressor – a terrorist country that does not respect human lives, international law, nothing but force. “We are fighting so courageously because we know the price of this victory and are ready to pay it, but of course we need your support,” Mykhailo Vydoinyk said.
According to the Head of the Ukrainian Mission, Russia is trying to persuade Western countries to stop supporting Ukraine and submit to the brutal force that it displays by various methods, including energy blackmail. However, attempts to conduct any “negotiations” with the aggressor will only lead to a new war and invasion of the territories of other states. “They won’t stop if you don’t stop them, and this is very important,” the Ukrainian Ambassador said.
Mykhailo Vydoinyk thanked the Danish side for supporting Ukraine from the first days of the war, for accepting Ukrainian displaced persons. “I think this comes from your heart, because you understand that we are fighting also for you, for your country – not only for Ukraine, but for the entire civilized world,” said the Ambassador of Ukraine, “and believe me, we, Ukrainians, will never forget this, we will remember all our lives how Denmark supported us.”
The Ambassador thanked all Danish political forces, regardless of their colours, for supporting the European integration of Ukraine, imposing tough sanctions against the aggressor, Denmark’s leadership in the green transition, as well as understanding what is at stake now and readiness to help Ukraine. “You cemented this foundation of good friendly relations between the Ukrainian and Danish peoples, and I think that this will give many positive yields in the future. I am very optimistic about that,” the Ukrainian Ambassador said.
