Before February 24, 2022, about 17,000 Ukrainians lived in Denmark. As of December 30, 2024, Denmark has accepted over 60,000 Ukrainians.
On March 16, 2022, the Danish Parliament passed a law that allowed Ukrainian displaced persons to quickly obtain temporary residence permits in Denmark, which immediately opened access to the state social protection system and labor market upon arrival in Denmark. Under this legal mechanism, over 40,000 Ukrainian citizens have been registered in Denmark (mostly in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Aalborg, Odense, and Viborg). On November 26, 2024, the Danish Parliament extended the law until March 17, 2026.
Ukrainian organizations operate in the country, including the Association of Ukrainians in Denmark, which unites organizations such as "Lastivka", "Ukraine Club", "Faino", "Ukrainian Sports Union", as well as the Danish-Ukrainian Society (founded in 1992) and the Volunteer Union "Bevar Ukraine" ("Save Ukraine"). Since February 24, 2023, the Ukraine House in Denmark has been operating in Copenhagen.
The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is represented in the cities of Copenhagen, Vejle, Odense, Aalborg, Aarhus, Randers and Nykøbing Falster.
