On 30 September 2022, Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Yevhen Perebyinis held a meeting with the delegation of the Chairmen of the European Affairs Parliamentary Committees of the European Union Member States, as well as with Vice President of the European Parliament Otmar Karas, responsible for relations with national parliaments.

Yevhen Perebyinis thanked the representatives of the Member States of the European Union for the solidarity and assistance of the EU countries in the difficult time of the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine, as well as for their support during the adoption by the European Council of the historic decision of 23 June 2022 on granting Ukraine the candidate status for membership in the European Union.
The parties discussed the issue of providing Ukraine with military and economic aid, bringing to justice perpetrators of war crimes on the territory of Ukraine, recognizing Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism, as well as opportunities to strengthen Ukraine′s cooperation with the parliaments of the EU Member States on issues of post-war reconstruction.
The Deputy Minister informed the EU parliamentarians about the latest decisions of the National Security Council of Ukraine in connection with the illegitimate actions of Russia aimed at the attempt to annex part of the territory of Ukraine and called on them to contribute to the implementation of new, even tougher anti-Russian sanctions.
The interlocutors coordinated further steps towards Ukraine′s acquisition of membership in the European Union. The representatives of the parliaments of the EU countries confirmed their support for Kyiv′s European integration aspirations and expressed their readiness to contribute at the parliamentary level to the promotion of Ukraine towards EU full membership.
