On 14 April 2021, the Political Directors of the Foreign Ministries of Ukraine and Denmark Petro Beshta and Christina Markus Lassen discussed a broad range of issues of bilateral and international political dialogue via videoconference.
Petro Beshta informed his Danish colleague about the ongoing escalation of the situation by the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and near the state border of Ukraine, as well as about the disinformation campaign that Russia is conducting to discredit our state.
The Directors discussed activities of the Crimean Platform, as well as possible joint actions of the two countries within this consultative and coordinating format in accordance with the Strategy for De-occupation and Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol. They emphasized the importance of holding the inauguration summit of the Crimean platform which will result in the adoption of a large political document – the Crimean Charter.
Christina Markus Lassen once again assured of Denmark’s consistent unshakable support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as of Copenhagen′s readiness to contribute to de-escalation of the situation, which was declared by the Danish Foreign Ministry following a recent video conference of Foreign Ministers.
The Parties touched upon the reforms agenda in Ukraine and preparations for the Fourth International Ukraine Reform Conference which will take place on 7-8 July in Vilnius. The Danish side confirmed its intention to take part in this event at a high level.
They also discussed preparations for the Sixth Eastern Partnership Summit and Ukraine’s efforts aimed at significantly strengthening this initiative in accordance with the interests and potential of partners.
The Ukrainian and Danish sides noted the active political dialogue between two states and agreed on a schedule of exchange of visits for the current and next year which will be dedicated to the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Denmark.
