On the 366th day of the war, on 24 February 2023, the Head of the Ukrainian state addressed the Danish people and thanked them for their support, as well as for the fact that they stood up to defend Ukraine, to defend life and people, rules and respect, justice and security.
“Thank you, people of Denmark, for your actions! For the weapons that help our defense. For the policy that helps isolate the aggressor. For your willingness to join our reconstruction after hostilities. And, of course, for your belief that the project of a united and free Europe cannot be complete without Ukraine's full integration,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
He praised every flag of Ukraine in Danish cities, and also thanked for every day that the Ukrainian and Danish peoples have gone through together, expressing confidence that both peoples will be together on the most important day for Ukraine – the day of Ukrainian victory.
The video address of the President of Ukraine was broadcasted, in particular, during a mass demonstration organized by the youth wings of a number of Danish political parties in front of the Russian Embassy in Copenhagen.
The participants of the demonstration were Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Denmark Lars Løkke Rasmussen, acting Minister for Defence of Denmark Troels Lund Poulsen, leaders of numerous Danish political parties, representatives of non-governmental organizations, as well as organizations that provide assistance to Ukraine.
Mette Frederiksen in turn said that Denmark will continue to support Ukraine, no matter how long this war continues. “We will not waver, we will not leave you, we stand firm against Russia, against the war and against the crimes against humanity… As long as Russian troops are on Ukrainian soil, the fight for freedom, democracy and justice continues. Every single day, every single minute until Ukraine is free again,” said the Prime Minister of Denmark.
