The Danish company “Coop Danmark” is increasing imports of goods from Ukraine. After successful negotiations with producers of Ukrainian products, the company decided to buy cheese, butter, confectionery, jams, flour and a number of other organic products, as well as alcoholic beverages in Ukraine.

On 25 August 2022, the company held a presentation of Ukrainian wine. The first nine trucks with over 100,000 bottles of wine have already arrived in Denmark. In the near future, other goods from Ukraine are expected to arrive.

Ambassador of Ukraine Mykhailo Vydoinyk who attended the presentation noted: “For a long time, our country remained an exporter of agricultural raw materials which earned it the reputation of the “breadbasket of Europe”. At the same time, Ukrainian food remained terra incognita for most Danes. However, today the situation is changing, and Ukrainian producers are actively exporting processed foods.”

The head of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Denmark hopes that the Danish-Ukrainian partnership in this area will develop more and more actively, and this will help both support Ukrainian agriculture and familiarize the Danes with Ukraine through food products.

“I am very glad that a whole line of Ukrainian brands will soon appear on the shelves of “Coop” stores. Danish consumers will be able to taste high-quality eco-friendly products grown on the generous Ukrainian land. Most importantly, Ukrainian manufacturers continue to do business despite the unprecedented challenges caused by the war,” said Mykhailo Vydoinyk.

In turn, “Coop” CEO Kræn Østergaard Nielsen said that he was very pleased with the new cooperation with Ukrainian suppliers. He emphasized that his company had been helping the Ukrainians from the very beginning of the full-scale invasion: “In the beginning, we sent trucks with emergency aid to Ukraine. Now the trucks can drive the other way with Ukrainian goods – a trade that both they and we can benefit from.”
