On 22 August 2021, eight athletes from Ukraine took part in the international longest-distance triathlon races “Ironman” in Copenhagen.
Traditionally, these races have become the most serious sporting challenge, accepted only by the most trained triathletes. Each participant had to swim 3.8 km on Amager Strandpark, cycle two-loop 180 km through the picturesque North Zealand and run four-loop 42.2 km through the centre of Copenhagen.
The Ironman triathlon requires its participants to fully dedicate themselves to intensive preparation for this event. Daily training requires changes in rhythm and lifestyle, diet and sleep, as well as strict discipline and great motivation. It was a pleasure to see how Ukrainian athletes showed their determination and endurance and overcame this difficult distance.
The Embassy of Ukraine in Denmark sincerely congratulates the Ukrainian participants of this year’s Copenhagen “Ironman” competition, most of whom took part in this triathlon for the first time – Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Oleksandr Bedniuk, Andrii Vidaiko, Andrii Hryhorchuk, Dmytro Kosonohov, Anton Nazarenko, Pavlo Ivlev and Artem Pavlov. Each of you will hold the proud title of “Iron Man”.
Each of the Ukrainian participants of the triathlon proved, first of all, for themselves that anything is possible, and that it is realistic to achieve any goal with willpower and self-confidence.
