On 9 March 2021, employees of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Denmark headed by the Ambassador Mykhailo Vydoinyk took part in the ceremony in commemoration of 207th Taras Shevchenko’s birth anniversary, who is the outstanding poet, classic of Ukrainian literature, thinker, artist, Genius of the Ukrainian people.
They laid flowers at the monument of the Ukrainian poet which is located in Copenhagen. The bust of the Ukrainian poet was made and installed here at the initiative of the Ukrainian Embassy and with the direct support of the Danish-Ukrainian Society. Its ceremonial opening took place in 2010.
The author of the monument is sculptor Sergei Boguslavsky. The site for the monument was chosen in the picturesque Østre Anlæg Park. According to the monument author’s intention, it resembles the hilly banks of the Dnieper near Kaniv, where Taras Shevchenko is buried, and a small lake nearby symbolizes the Dnieper in miniature.
