09 April 2021 17:00

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba held a video conference with Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod.

Dmytro Kuleba informed his Danish colleague in detail about the escalation of the situation by the Russian Federation in eastern Ukraine and in the Crimea: shelling of Ukrainian positions, deaths of military personnel, as well as the build-up of Russian troops along the Ukrainian border, a coordinated propaganda campaign by Russian officials and Russian state television to incite hostility among the Russian population and to justify hostile actions in Moscow.

Jeppe Kofod expressed Denmark’s full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state: “Ukraine will not be left alone. Russia is responsible for de-escalating the situation”.

The Danish Foreign Minister assured his Ukrainian counterpart of his readiness to jointly consolidate further European support for Ukraine. The Ministers coordinated their positions ahead of the Foreign Affairs Council of the EU member states on 19 April, where the head of Ukrainian diplomacy will take part.

“The European Union should send a clear signal to Russia that it will stand on the side of Ukraine with a clear position and concrete actions in case of further escalation of tension”, Dmytro Kuleba noted, adding that the Ukrainian side remains committed to the political and diplomatic settlement.

The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry confirmed the invitation to Denmark to take part in the inaugural summit of the Crimean Platform and in the celebration of the 30th  anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.

The Ministers also exchanged invitations to carry out bilateral visits as soon as the epidemic situation allows.

Dmytro Kuleba thanked Jeppe Kofod for Denmark’s active and consistent support of the European transformation of our state. The interlocutors paid special attention to the issues of implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.
