On 11 June 2021, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark Mette Frederiksen.
On the eve of the NATO summit on 14 June, the President briefed the Danish Prime Minister on the security situation in Donbas and near borders of Ukraine. He stressed that the level of threat remains high, as only part of the Russian troops and heavy weapons have been withdrawn from the Ukrainian borders so far.
The President thanked Denmark for its firm support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the importance of keeping international pressure on Russia in order to achieve real progress in a peaceful settlement.
The interlocutors discussed practical cooperation in support of Ukraine’s efforts towards NATO membership and within the framework of European integration.
Mette Frederiksen told the President that Denmark is ready to deliver 500,000 doses of vaccine against COVID-19 to Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the invitation to the Danish Prime Minister to visit Ukraine to participate in the inaugural summit of the Crimean Platform and events on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.
