Today is the mourning day of our history…
Holodomor victims Remembrance Day…
In the twentieth century, Ukrainians survived three famines: of 1921-1923, of 1932-1933 and the famine of 1946-1947.
However, the Holodomor of 1932-1933 occupies a particularly sad place among the most tragic pages in the history of the Ukrainian people, as it caused the death of millions of Ukrainians. It has done irreparable harm to our mentality and culture, and has broken the link between generations.
Today, the Holodomor is not long-standing history but a deep spiritual wound that strikes our national memory with heartbreaking pain.
Let us bow our heads today in grief for those who died of starvation and fell victim to the repression of the totalitarian regime.
May the memory of all those killed innocently unite us, the living, give us strength and will, wisdom and inspiration to build our own State on our own land.
Memory eternal…
