The Ukrainian-Danish Youth House, together with its partner organizations, held a three-day festival “Ukrainian Days” in the capital of Denmark. The Danish cultural community did not stay away from the horror of the war unleashed by Russia, which is now devastating the Ukrainian land.
Danish organizations engaged displaced persons from Ukraine to the festival that demonstrated the courage, dignity and fortitude of the Ukrainian people. Ukraine appears as a state that has not surrendered to the tyranny and terror of fascist Moscovia. Ukraine reveals the richness of its culture, traditions and respect for the nations of Europe. Ukraine gives hope that the rule of law, democracy and human rights will definitely defeat despotism, dictatorship and lawlessness.
Ukrainian culture – theatre, literature, art and even cuisine attracted the inhabitants of the capital of Denmark. The Ukrainians, who were forced to leave their homes in Ukraine fleeing the war, came to Denmark and brought with them a piece of Ukraine – its majestic history, culture and art.
During three days of the festival, everyone could once again be convinced that Ukraine is the cradle of freedom, faith and justice. Creative workshops, film screenings, poetry of pain, music of victory and many other pages of Ukraine’s creative opposition to the Russian invasion.
One of the powerful cultural events was a concert of Ukrainian professional musicians displaced to Denmark. The unsurpassed music of Ukrainian composers performed by Anastasiia Kyshkovska, Natalia Gordeyeva, Sofia Matyuk and also by Dane of Ukrainian origin Elisabeth Nielsen once again proved that cultural influence is more powerful than all rockets, bombs and shells.
Deputy head of Ukrainian mission to Denmark Yurii Romanchuk noted that this is “an important contribution aimed at better understanding our country. At understanding that Ukraine belongs to the family of European peoples in spirit, culture, mentality and common history. It is also an attempt to look through the prism of culture at the fundamental universal values that Ukraine defends right now.”
The event organized by the Danish side also allowed to raise funds for the humanitarian needs of the Ukrainian victims of war.
