On 5 November 2022, the spouse of the Ambassador of Ukraine to Denmark Khrystyna Vydoinyk attended the largest event in the literary life of Denmark – the annual Danish book fair “Bogforum” which this year had a special program dedicated to Ukraine.
Khrystyna Vydoinyk became a participant in a creative discussion between Ukrainian poet, novelist, translator Yurii Andrukhovych and Danish author and journalist Leif Davidsen, and between German writer and journalist of Ukrainian origin Katya Petrovska with Danish writer Anne Lise Marstrand-Jørgensen.
During interesting conversations, there was an exchange of opinions regarding the current state and prospects of Ukrainian literature, in particular with regard to use of the Ukrainian literary word to convey to the world community the truth about the horrors of the full-scale war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine.
In response to the question of the Danish interlocutor, Yurii Andrukhovych said in particular: “Ukraine will win. Ukraine will return to its internationally recognized borders. Ukrainian society will become more efficient after this war. If the West listens to the speeches of President Zelensky, it is important to understand that they appear because of the constant control of Ukrainian civil society. Russia did not understand that 30 years after the Soviet Union we were going in completely different directions.”
This year′s program of the book fair presents four Ukrainian authors: Yurii Andrukhovych, Katja Petrovska, Andrii Kurkov and the German-speaking writer of Ukrainian origin Lana Lux.
