On the 259th day of the war, on 9 November 2022, Ambassador of Ukraine to Denmark Mykhailo Vydoinyk took part, as an honoured guest, in the annual general assembly of the Danish Agriculture and Food Council which represents the interests of 300 Danish companies in the agricultural sector and food industry, as well as 36 unions and farmers’ cooperatives.
The main topics of this year′s meeting were modern challenges and tasks for Danish agribusiness during the ongoing Russian armed aggression against Ukraine which has led to a global food crisis, unprecedented inflation and a significant increase in energy prices. Danish farmers also discussed the prospects for implementing Denmark′s ambitious climate commitments which include reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 70% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels. This year, more than 800 people took part in the event.
Speaking before a large Danish audience, Mykhailo Vydoinyk expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided by Danish farms in overcoming the devastating consequences of Russian aggression against our country. He reported on the latest destructive Russian attacks on the Ukrainian energy infrastructure, blackmail and the intention of the Putin’s regime to block the implementation of the “grain deal”, the abduction by the occupiers and the illegal sale of Ukrainian grain, the removal of agricultural machinery from the occupied territories, the mining of hundreds of thousands of hectares of land. Separately, he gave a brief overview of the current situation in the agricultural sector of Ukraine, talked about the existing issues of preparation for winter and spring sowing campaign. The Ambassador called on Danish business to intensify cooperation with Ukrainian farms and start new joint projects.
