According to the Danish Embassy in Kyiv, fifty lung ventilators from Denmark for use in the hospital treatment of Covid-19 patients with serious symptoms have now arrived in Ukraine.

The delivery of devices took place through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, which facilitates cooperation in disaster response in Europe and worldwide and finances 75% of the transportation costs. Arranging the transport of lung ventilators was provided by the Danish Emergency Management Agency.

“The decision on the donation to Ukraine was made by a Danish Inter-Ministerial Task Force based on a dialogue between health authorities in Denmark and in Ukraine to ensure that the right competences to operate the ventilators are available”, the Danish side said.

The Danish Embassy is grateful to the Ukrainian authorities which have supported and expedited the delivery, and also to the World Health Organization, which provided the technical support and will provide preventive maintenance of the equipment for 18 months and relevant training of healthcare workers.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba expressed gratitude to the friendly Danish state on his Twitter page: “As previously agreed with my Danish colleague & friend @JeppeKofod, 50 lung ventilators arrived from Denmark to Ukraine. We deeply appreciate this act of support & true friendship between Ukraine and Denmark”.
