04 August 2021 11:00

In the evening of 3 August 2021, 509,400 doses of “AstraZeneca” vaccine (ChAdOx1-S) arrived in Ukraine, which were delivered by Denmark as part of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

The vaccines were donated in accordance with an agreement between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark Mette Frederiksen.

According to the President of Ukraine: “Our agreement with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen to support vaccination program in Ukraine has been implemented. Today, Ukraine received 500 thousand doses of Covid-19 vaccine from Denmark. We’re grateful to our Danish friends for their support in overcoming this global challenge. Mange tak!”

Vaccines delivery to Ukraine has been part of the Danish government’s efforts of donating 3 million Covid-19 vaccines to various countries by the end of 2021.

Vaccines were transported by the UNICEF Supply Division headquartered in Copenhagen.

According to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Ukraine plans to use the pharmaceuticals to vaccinate those who need to receive a second dose and for vaccination in mass immunization centres.
