On 28 June 2022, a Danish public-private partnership, under the conditional name “Denmark-Mykolaiv Partnership”, was launched which includes Danish business and trade unions and explores how Denmark, given its strength and expertise, can best assist Ukraine in the work of reconstruction and removing debris from the streets of Ukrainian cities.
The established association is studying the framework conditions for the participation of Danish companies in the rebuilding efforts, working on appropriate commercial and financing opportunities for its activities, involving, in particular, international funds and global companies, and also exploring the possibilities for the engaged Danish companies to enter the Ukrainian market and increase their trade with Ukraine.
The members of the association are Dansk Industri, Dansk Erhverv, Danske Rederier, Landbrug & Fødevarer, Green Power Denmark, FH and CO-Industri. On the government side, the activities of the partnership are coordinated by the Ministry of Enterprise (Industry, Business and Financial Affairs) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (through the Minister for Development Cooperation).
The cooperation will be particularly focused on Danish strongholds such as green transition, water supply, shipping, transportation, infrastructure, good governance and business development based on Danish know-how, technologies and experience.
The Danish-Mykolaiv partnership will include joint activities in eight areas: urban planning, infrastructure, transport, maritime sector, green transition, SME development and investment promotion, youth and culture, good governance.
It is planned that this partnership will initially focus on the rebuilding of the Ukrainian port city of Mykolaiv, but in the long term, should also include other parts and regions of Ukraine.
