The national flag of the Crimean Tatar people was solemnly raised on the building of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission.
This flag is based on the “taraq tamğa” (the trident of Girays) – a family symbol of the Giray dynasty, founded in the XV century by the first Crimean Khan Hacı I Giray who gained independence for Crimea from the Golden Horde.
The blue flag with a golden tamğa is a synonymous of purity and freedom, honesty and loyalty, perfection and strength. It became a symbol of the struggle of the Crimean Tatar people for their rights. It is a symbol of resistance to the invaders, a symbol of spirit of freedom laid by many generations.
It is a common symbol of the struggle of Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars for the return of Crimea home to Ukraine. For the last eight years, our peoples have been fighting together for our native Crimea which was stolen from us.
