On 10 November the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba held a video conference with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Denmark Jeppe Kofod.
The parties discussed the close cooperation that has been built between the two countries in various fields in recent years, in particular in the field of energy and agriculture. It was noted that two countries have promising joint projects in the field of infrastructure development, defence and digitalization.
The Ukrainian side stressed the importance of launching the Danida Sustainable Infrastructure Financing (DSIF) program in Ukraine, which will begin in 2021. In addition, Minister Dmytro Kuleba invited Danish investors to participate in the “Big Construction” project aimed at large-scale development of high-quality infrastructure in Ukraine.
In the field of business, the Ministers agreed on the necessity of launching the Ukrainian-Danish Chamber of Commerce. The relevant tasks will be undertaken in the coming months.
Minister Dmytro Kuleba thanked the Danish side for the decision to donate to Ukraine 50 ventilators to combat coronavirus disease.
Minister Jeppe Kofod stressed that Denmark remains committed to supporting reforms in Ukraine, which will be reflected in the new Danish Neighbourhood Program (DANEP), which will be unveiled next year. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister called Denmark a co-sponsor of Ukrainian reforms and assured his Danish counterpart of the determination of the Ukrainian President and Government to further push reforms, especially in the fight against corruption and perceived interests.
The Danish side was invited to participate in the new coordination mechanism the “Crimean Platform” to increase the effectiveness of the international response to the ongoing occupation of Crimea. Jeppe Kofod confirmed the readiness of the Danish side to take part in the founding summit of the Crimean Platform in May 2021, taking into account the epidemic situation.
Minister Dmytro Kuleba informed his Danish counterpart that Ukraine is counting on the significant results of the Sixth Eastern Partnership Summit, especially in the context of economic integration into the EU. In this regard, further work will continue on the preparation of the ambitious Joint Declaration of this summit.
The Danish side confirmed the readiness of the Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen to host the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky as soon as the epidemiological situation allows.
