The Danish company Vestas Wind Systems A/S, a global leader in the production of wind turbines, has announced the signing of a contract for the supply, installation and commissioning of the first phase of innovative wind turbines for the Tyligulska Wind Electric Plant (WEP), a subsidiary of DTEK, which is one of the leading Ukrainian producers of renewable energy sources.

Project financing is planned from the funds raised by DTEK by the issuance of green Eurobonds. The operation of the first stage of the wind farm will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 504 thousand tons per year, it should be an effective contribution of the DTEK Group to the goals of the European Green Deal.

21 modular 6 MW wind turbines “EnVentus V162-6.0 MW” will be installed at Tyligulska WEP. This model of the turbine has the largest rotor size in the Vestas portfolio (162 m), with a swept area of over 20,000 m². The turbine can operate both on turbulence and average and low wind speeds, so it is ideal for wind generation in southern Ukraine.

The wind electric plant will be built on the shores of the Tyligul Estuary. Construction work on the installation of wind turbines will begin in March and will last until the end of 2021. The Tyligulska WEP is expected to be fully commissioned in the second quarter of 2022. The construction project provides for the possibility of increasing capacity to 564 MW. The contract also provides for 20 years of monitoring and service of turbines.

The Danish manufacturer has already installed 189 wind turbines in Ukraine with a total capacity of 660 MW. In particular, the company built two wind farms for DTEK: 200MW Botievska WEP (65 wind turbines) and 100MW Orlivska WEP (26 wind turbines).
