On 6 August 2021, Ambassador of Ukraine Mykhailo Vydoinyk met with the organizers and creative forces of the multimedia project “Ukrainian Constructivism” to be presented in December 2021.
The project supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation is created at the intersection of contemporary visual art, ballet, electro-folk music and historical drama. Its artistic director and curator is Sergei Sviatchenko, one of the most influential artists in the field of collage, who will create unique scenography, installations and costumes that will be specific to the Ukrainian avant-garde art of the 1920’s.
Danish choreographer and ballet dancer Sebastian Kloborg, in turn, will interpret the relationship of various social groups in the Ukrainian society of that time using the modern language of choreography which includes pantomime, humour and dance storytelling.
The participants of the unique multimedia venture are also the vocalist of the musical group “ONUKA” Nata Zhyzhchenko, the leader of the musical group “The Maneken” Yevhen Filatov, architectural historian and researcher of modernism Ievgeniia Gubkina, as well as Danish art consultant Christian Kortegaard Madsen.
The project will become a powerful tool of cultural diplomacy which with the help of the language of contemporary art and experimental festival format will reveal to the world the phenomenon of Ukrainian constructivism and raise public attention to the modernist heritage of Ukraine.
The parties discussed ways to support this international project, in particular in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Denmark. They also consider possibilities of its further scaling for the offline space which will stimulate domestic and international tourism and contribute to the protection and preservation of the tangible and intangible heritage of constructivism at the state and municipal levels of Ukraine.
