On 29 October 2021, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Denmark Mykhailo Vydoynyk and Director of the Trade and Market Relations of the Danish Agriculture and Food Council Jan Laustsen discussed the results of a recent visit to Ukraine by a delegation of Danish farmers and technology producers for animal husbandry, which took place on 4-8 October 2021.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the prospects of expanding bilateral cooperation in agriculture, with special emphasis on the development of pigs, cattle, meat and agricultural processing, production of livestock feed, finished and semi-processed goods, greenhouse infrastructure, etc where Denmark possesses advanced technologies.

According to Mykhailo Vydoinyk, with the launch of the land market in Ukraine in July 2021 new opportunities have opened for the development of small and medium-sized agribusiness, including family farms. This, in turn, opens up additional opportunities for increasing exports of Danish agricultural equipment to our country with the further prospect of localizing production of Danish agricultural goods in Ukraine. Of particular interest is the transition of agriculture to green technologies and biogas production, which is a cost-effective alternative to traditional energy sources.

In this regard, Jan Laustsen supported the Embassy’s idea to organize a visit of Ukrainian farmers to Denmark in the coming months to get them acquainted with best Danish practices in organizing and managing agriculture, available advanced technological solutions of local agricultural producers, and to hold substantive meetings with potential Danish partners.

It was also agreed that the Danish Agriculture and Food Council will provide support to the Ukrainian side in organizing a national stand during the next large-scale agricultural fair “Agromek” scheduled for autumn 2022 in Denmark.
