On the 90th day of the war, on 24 May 2022, the Ambassador of Ukraine met with the Chairman of the European Affairs Committee of the Danish Parliament.
The Ambassador raised the issue of supporting the status of a candidate for the EU membership to be granted to Ukraine. He emphasized that in times of war, Ukraine expects to obtain a political signal that will be a powerful impetus for the further integration of Ukraine with the European Union, the completion of the necessary domestic reforms and for the growth of foreign investment in Ukraine.
The Ambassador Vydoinyk noted that the polls conducted in the EU show that most EU citizens support the potential membership of Ukraine, so it is now up to governments and parliaments of EU member states to show political will in this matter.
For her part, the Chairman of the Committee Eva Kjer Hansen noted that she has no reason to doubt that there will be a positive response to this request from Denmark, given the great multi-party support of Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression.
During the meeting, the interlocutors also discussed possibilities of exchange of visits of parliamentary delegations of Ukraine and Denmark, as well as the participation of Danish companies in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
