On the 75th day of the war, on 9 May 2022, Ambassador of Ukraine Mykhailo Vydoynyk met with the Minister of Culture and Ecclesiastical Affairs of Denmark.
During the conversation, they discussed a wide range of issues related to cultural needs of Ukrainians in Denmark.
The Danish Minister supported the joint initiative of the Ukrainian community and the Ukrainian Embassy to establish the Ukrainian House in Copenhagen, and promised to provide the necessary assistance in the implementation of this project.
The Ukrainian House should serve as a centre of Ukrainians, where various cultural events will be held: exhibitions, concerts, film screenings, seminars, meetings with participation of cultural figures of Ukraine and Denmark, as well as a place for business contacts, conferences and presentations. Also, the House will contain the Library of Ukrainian Literature, classes for the Saturday school, etc.
Minister Halsboe-Jørgensen responded positively to the request to assist Ukrainian artists, performers and painters in organizing thematic events to promote Ukrainian culture in Denmark.
While discussing the current situation in Ukraine, Ambassador Vydoinyk thanked the Minister for supporting the initiative to cease any cooperation with Russian cultural institutions in protest against the war, that the Kremlin unleashed in Ukraine.
The interlocutors also discussed the status of the implementation of the agreements reached during the recent online meeting of the Ministers of Culture of Ukraine and Denmark.
