On 27 October Ambassador of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Denmark Mykhailo Vydoinyk, together with Ambassador of Georgia Gigi Gigiadze and Ambassador of Moldova Oleg Serebrian, held another event in the format of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) – a meeting with the leadership of the Foreign Policy Council of the Folketing.
The Ambassadors briefed the Danish parliamentarians on the internal situation in three countries of the EaP region and on the progress in democratic and market reforms stipulated by the bilateral association agreements.
The parties presented their vision of further cooperation between the EU and Eastern Partners and the formation of a more ambitious agenda for the Eastern European initiative of the EU, which should be specified at the meeting of EU and EaP countries leaders in spring 2021.
The Ambassadors together with Danish parliamentarians raised issues of further development of sectoral integration of the EaP countries, strengthening the security of the Eastern partners, increasing their bilateral trade with the EU and perspective areas of investment, including from Denmark, in the economies of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.
In addition, they discussed issues of the international agenda, including the development of the situation in Belarus and the escalation of the Armenian-Azerbaijan conflict.
Chairman of the Foreign Policy Council Martin Lidegaard and his deputy Michael Aastrup Jensen, who represent the pro-government and opposition parties of the Folketing, respectively, stressed that the Eastern Partnership would be reflected in new foreign policy strategies to be presented by the government and opposition in the nearest future.
